We’re excited to be leading an oversubscribed $3.5M seed round in EcoMap Technologies alongside Janus Venture Partners, Grotech Ventures, Conscious Venture Partners, TCP Venture Capital, Techstars, and others.

EcoMap defines ecosystems as “ever-changing networks of people, resources, and organizations united by a common objective or sharing a common trait.”

Ecosystems exist across all types of businesses, industries, geographies, corporations, and people. The communities within these ecosystems consist of vastly different audiences and require different branding and language to drive engagement. Yet, innovation in ecosystem management has been lackluster. Many of the vital resources within an ecosystem exist in multiple fragmented sources and the digital experience for discovering these resources remains crowded and noisy. Ecosystems also change dynamically over time and the platforms that track them need to do so as well to be useful, which makes them difficult to digitize at scale.

Enter EcoMap.

The company directly addresses these challenges by creating verticalized platforms that power ecosystems. The platforms become highly configurable and real-time reflections of the ecosystems they empower by algorithmically capturing, monitoring, and updating relevant data points.

Usage tracking and analytics tools allow communities to gauge how their audiences engage with data and how their ecosystem benchmarks against others. Through these features, EcoMap makes ecosystem building efficient and accessible. Our conversations with their customers confirmed as much — EcoMap has become mission critical to their community efforts and the functionality and flexibility of the platform outperforms their expectations.

When we first met Sherrod, it only took fifteen minutes for him to excite us about the burgeoning ecosystem category. Our ensuing meetings with Pava and the rest of the EcoMap team only strengthened our conviction. Pava and Sherrod both have a nuanced understanding of the problems their customers face, skill sets that complement each other perfectly, and a shared passion for ecosystem building that is deeply personal and authentic. Their clarity and thoughtfulness around the company’s mission shines through in conversation and we are convinced that they are the best team to tackle this challenge.

In conjunction with this fundraise, the company plans to expand their team with several key hires in marketing, product, sales, and customer success. Check out the EcoMap website for their job board and perspective on the fundraise.

We’re absolutely thrilled to partner with the entire EcoMap team and look forward to supporting them in making ecosystems accessible to everyone, everywhere.
