Announcing Our Follow-On Investment in City Detect

Elvia Perez

We’re excited to announce our continued investment in City Detect as part of the company’s $13M Series A round. Las Olas Venture Capital (LOVC) previously led City Detect’s $2M seed round in 2024, and we’re proud to continue supporting the team as they scale.

Founded in 2021, City Detect is an AI powered platform that helps municipalities proactively identify, manage, and mitigate urban blight and infrastructure issues. The company equips fleet vehicles already driving city streets including garbage trucks, street sweepers, and code enforcement vehicles with high resolution cameras that capture images in real time. Using computer vision models trained to detect more than 100 signs of blight and property decay, the platform identifies issues ranging from graffiti and illegal dumping to overgrown lots, roof deterioration, and post storm damage.

The result is a mapped and prioritized dashboard that gives city teams actionable insights at scale and allows them to respond more quickly and efficiently. Today the platform is used by municipalities including Dallas, Cleveland, Stockton, Cathedral City, and Miami-Dade County.

What stands out about City Detect is not only the strength of the technology but also the tangible outcomes it is already delivering for municipalities. In Stockton, the platform identified more than 4,000 unique code violations across 2,500 properties in a single week. In Cleveland, a process that once required $170,000 and 40 officers over six months to complete a citywide property survey can now be done in a matter of weeks using a single City Detect equipped vehicle. These improvements are meaningful for municipalities that are managing growing infrastructure challenges while operating under tight budgets and limited staffing.

We are excited to continue supporting Gavin Baum-Blake and the City Detect team as they expand their platform across the United States. City Detect reflects our belief that AI can deliver meaningful productivity gains in sectors where workflows have historically remained manual and underserved by modern software. By equipping cities with better data and actionable insights, the platform enables local governments to address issues earlier, allocate resources more efficiently, and improve the communities they serve.

The future of proactive municipal operations is here, and we believe City Detect is helping define it.
